The Postsecondary Enrollment of African American Men: Perceptions of Environmental Variables

Higher education has made progress in the enrollment of under-represented minorities, yet very notably, African American men continue to enroll college at low rates. The current study explores factors that lead men, using lived experiences 8 undergraduates mid-western universities. findings are consistent with emerging theory Community Expectancy, suggesting many informal play important roles encouraging academic performance and ultimately men.
